On a very windy sunrise, the Tainos were performing their rituals. They sang and danced around the fire as they prayed. They believed in the God of Light and the God of Darkness. The Tainos thought the God of Light guided them to happiness and taught them the power of knowledge, while the God of Darkness watched over those who roamed through the night and possessed those who had evil within. They were taught that these gods showed both sides of humankind.
That morning, the Tainos prayed to the God of Light for protection.
Their prayers were heard by the God of Light and he was flattered. He wanted to watch over this occurrence but the God of Darkness also overheard these prayers and was consumed with jealousy. He decided he wanted to take part in this event too.

The Beginning
As the two gods tried to remove themselves from this 'whirlwind' it pulled back harder, eventually as this 'whirlwind' grew stronger and taller, objects around the village including some of the villagers were sucked into this mysterious whirlwind. It twisted and turned and started moving, leaving behind what was left of the village.
The Tainos, did not realize that as they went around in circles, they caused this spiral shaped entwined funnel made up of the two winds to become stronger and tighter. The Tainos stood back and watched in awe.
A long time ago, when the earth was still young, there was an indigenous group called the Tainos, who lived in a beautiful Caribbean island. Every morning and before any meal, the Tainos would gather and form a circle around a fire and pray to their gods. They would communicate with the Other World, mostly to ask for the gods’ guidance.
The twister travelled threw the lands for days, destroying anything in its way. The twister died down and the gods were released. The god of light and darkness never returned to the island, but once every full moon you would feel a strong wind taking over the island. The Tainos struggled to rebuild the society as everyone was in shock for what had just happened. They had to venture far away to gather new seeds and roots to plant in this new society as all the land was destroyed by the twister. The gods continued to fight and watch over the villages. The Tainos changed up their rituals, every full moon they would continue to dance and sing to the God of light and would give sacrifices to the God of darkness to please him.
Both gods decided to appear in the form of a wind; the God of Light became a warm wind that swooped towards the fire, causing the flames to shake and become larger. Meanwhile, the God of Darkness, wanted to destroy the fire so, he decided to become an icy whirlwind. As the wind from the God of Darkness encountered the incandescent wind of the God of Light, the two different temperatures of the winds as well as the good and evil natures of the gods, clashed with each other.
