Yukon gold Rush

Yukon Gold Rush also called klondike Gold Rush. Yukon Gold Rush came to Canada between 1896 and 1899. At August 16 1896 Gold Rush came into the Yukon. 100000 prosectors came to the northwestern Canada. In 1896, two famous prosectors Shookum Jim and George Carmack.

Thousands of prospectors came from Canada and USA. A lot of people came to sell food, supplies to the prospectors.

Route to Klondike

Klondike only route is water route . From Seattle or San Francisco, prospectors could travel by sea up the coast to the ports of Alaska.And they also cross the Yukon River.

A dangerous Journey

Getting to the Yukon gold field was very challenging. People need to travel over the Rocky Mountain trail. 100,000 people began the treks to the Yukon. Only 30,000 people safety. Many people died on the way.

Dawson City

Dawson City grew at the centre of the gold field. The government of Canada need to maintain control of this region. In 1898 Yukon Territory was formed.

-Yukon gold Rush was over by 1899. They moved to the Alaska.
