Measurement is used in the gym a lot.
When you do a skill or a gesture, your in an angle.
When you go to a competition, the judges score you using decimals.
As you just learned, math is in gymnastics and can be used in lots of ways.
I chose this topic because my favorite subject is math and my favorite sport is gymnastic, so I wanted to know how math could be used in gymnastics.
After you do all the events, the judges get a paper that show all four of your scores for each event you did and add all of them up to get the all-around score. For example:
8.8 + 9.0 + 8.5 + 9.15 = 35.45
Some gymnastics equipment are geometrical shapes.
At a competition, the judges start with 10.0 (best score) for execution. While doing the routine for the judges, deductions are taken if you had problems with your form, if you fell, or if you forgot to do a part of the routine.
For example:
10.0 - 1.0 = 9.0
Usually, there are two judges in a competition at each event, after the judges come up with a score for the competitor, they find the mean, so the answer would be the final score at the event. For example:
8.8 + 9.0 = 17.8/2= 8.9
