"Hero" is a poem made by Mariah Carey. The most noticeable survival trait that this portrays is bravery. The poem states,"And you cast your fears aside, and you know you can survive." This shows bravery by showing that you cast your fears aside, removing them to stay alive. Also the text says, "So when you feel like hope is gone, look inside you and be strong." This shows the trait by showing that even when there is no hope, you must stay determined.

"Surviving the Tsunami" is an article about a tsunami that hit the japanese town of Kamaishi, and many teachers and students where at school when this happened, and then an earthquake struck. The trait that struck me as the most imminent is a lot of them having intuition. It says, "'Before I realized I was running my feet where moving' Kana says." this shows that her brain immediately knew to run, before even she knew. As well as says, "They (Students) didn't doubt that a tsunami was headed straight for them." Their intuition told them that after such a strong earthquake, there was a tsunami coming.

To me, surviving is much more than living through a catastrophe. Its overcoming an obstacle, or learning something, in the process. Such as my old bullying problem, I was always seemingly the main target for bullies. My last name made it too easy. Then they started using a child's game and made the so called 'Archer touch'. But I learned how to deal with bullying, and by the time I started middle school, people hardly knew me, and those who did, didn't care to make fun of me. Because they knew it wouldn't work.

This was a talk made by a person named Hyeonseo Lee. The trait I found in this situation is willpower. it says in the talk, "But I managed to control all the emotions inside me..." At this time she was being interrogated by two chinese officers, who would have her apprehended back in North Korea if anything was fishy. But she had the willpower to keep talking and not let herself be caught. It also says, " I went back and forth between the immigration office and the police station, desperately trying to get my family out." This shows that she has the willpower to keep trying to get her family out, no matter how hopeless the situation.

If you have the courage to do things without fear, then you may be able to survive, or at least last longer, in a dire situation. Such as a collapsing building, you would be brave enough to go through a dangerous path to escape.

It takes a strong will to keep going when the going gets rough. Like losing many family members but still having the strength to go on.

"Night" is a book abut the story of the narrator, Elie Wiesel, and his struggles during the holocaust while in a Nazi concentration camp. The traits that where displayed the most seemed to be bravery and willpower. To be honest I couldn't find text evidence that wouldn't require me to shrink the text to microscopic, or it going off the screen, instead I'll summarize. At the part where they where being sent left and right, one direction would lead to death, and others would live, hid dad was sent to death. Elie had the bravery to go to his fathers side, and attempt to bring him to the surviving side, putting his life at risk in the process. Also during the time when he was running through the snow. He kept the willpower to continue running with his father. He was able to keep both him and his father together.

The power of ‘knowing’ without knowing why, can a good trait to help you survive. It uses your knowledge to judge something without thinking, this would be another great trait for multiple things such as a flood like your intuition will tell you when its safe to leave and go into the water.

Reason: It talks about "the last known survivor" as he's "stalking his prey" which it would make sense that his prey would be whatever obstacle he overcame.

"The Sniper" is a story by Liam O'Flaherty. It shows that he has the trait of a quick thinker. It says in the article, "Quickly he drew his knife from his pocket, opened it on the breastwork of the parapet, and ripped open the sleeve." He did this with one hand and did it near immediately after he was shot. Sowing that he could figure things out quickly and use the environment to his advantage. Also, a little afterward, he did a clever maneuver to fake his death, and as the story says, "His ruse had succeeded." This shows that he was able to use his limited resources to outsmart his opponent. He was also able to kill his opponent with a single shot from a one handed gun.

This is a trait that would be helpful in a situation such as a tsunami, for example, would it be smarter to get to the highest floor in the building your in, or run away to get farther away and to even higher ground?

Artist: Survivor

Lyrics:It's the eye of the tiger It's the thrill of the fight, Risin' up to the challenge, of our rival, and the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night, and he's watching us all with, the eye of the tiger.

In order to be a successful survivor, it takes specific traits and skills. Like being able to react on a moments notice, being able to plan things out quickly and efficiently, or being able to efficiently use your surroundings to your advantage.

Being able to use your surroundings to the fullest extent, and being able to figure out how to use them in any situation. For example, if you where shipwrecked and stuck on an island, you would be able to think things through and survive using just whats around you.
