Advances in Technology

Hyperfuse Technology- fuses together 3 layers of material that allows a more breathable and stable shoe. Also improves the durability of the shoe.

Nike Air Technology- provides comfort and cushioning. Takes impact then slowly releases to provide more comfort and less shock for the foot.

Construction

Until the 70s, all basketball shoes were mostly high top, all purpose shoes. Advances in technology have allowed for a more comfortable shoe. The most important advancement is stability.

In 1997, Nike decided that the Air Jordans should become a sub-brand of Nike

  • Contintues to release shoes and maintain success
  • Started a new trend for basketball shoes
  • In 1984, Nike signs Michael Jordan to the company
  • Fined $5,000
  • $65 (highest in market at the time)
  • Over $400 now
