Biographical info

this painting is realistic. the artist used smooth texture in the hair of the lady and used rough texture in the monkey's hair. I see the artist used different shades of dark colors to emphasis the ladies hair. there is texture in the leaves in background. I think what the artist is trying to show us in this painting is her face features and as you can see how its detailed very good and looks real. The feeling the artist gave me when i looked at this painting is how detailed her this painting is and the different colors to make it look very realistic. The part i liked in this painting is the illusion of the monkey in the back and the artist face in front to show that this is a portrait painting.

Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo de Rivera was born in Coyoacan in the outskirts of Mexico on the 6th of July 1907 and died on July 13, 1954.Frida Kahlo's style of art was a mix of indigenous Mexican art, realism, symbolism and surrealism. Symbols have been important to artists from the very earliest times, they often represent an idea or quality. Kahlo’s childhood was spent in relative poverty, forcing her to start working at an early age.

Unlike many artists, Frida did not start painting at an early age. Although her father dabbled in painting as a hobby, his daughter was not particularly interested in art as a career and did not pursue it seriously.
