Roman Architecture

General information

  • You could see architecture in every building in Rome.
  • They borrowed the architecture from the Etruscans.
  • used Greek architecture but quickly adapted to their own.
  • The most famous pieces ey use is the arch.
  • The Romans mainly used brick and marble to build with.
  • Gladiators were slaves.
  • They were forced to fight to death.
  • They gained popularity at the end of the days of roman republic.
  • In the third A.D. the gladiator wars stopped because they were more focused on fighting in wars.
  • some volunteered to fight.
  • The Romans grew lots of crops because they had good soil and didn't have to migrate them.
  • They were proud of lots o things .
  • Rome is surround by seas except for the north .
  • Started to expand after a while.
  • Immigrated from Europe.

The Colosseum

  • The largest arena .
  • The Colosseum is still standing after it was in acid rain.
  • The Colosseum is a ionic symbol of their culture.
  • The Colosseum was added to the new 7 wonders of the world .
  • It was mainly used for gladiator fights.

Circus Maximus

  • The Circus Maximus was a chariot racing stadium.
  • The largest stadium.
  • Beleved that Lucius Tarquinius built it.
  • Used for Racing,Celebrations,and religious events.
  • The Circus Maximus is 621 m. long and 118 m. wide.

The Roman military

  • Started to back down because they were out numbered.
  • The Roman Military people had great minds.
  • The Roman Military had to get more people to join the military to defeat the fighters.
  • They had two branches Legions and Auxiliary.
  • They also relied on roman citizens.
