Trans and Cis Gender

Transgender is defined as those who don't necessarily follow the expectations of society when it comes to "maleness" and "femaleness." This person is anatomically one sex but "feels" as though they are the opposite.

Cisgender is a person whose anatomical sex matches the gender they perform. This person has a male reproductive system and acts as a male.

Intersex

The term "intersex" is a very broad term that can be used to describe many different conditions in which a person is born with a reproductive system that isn't necessarily male or female.

Transsexual

a person who is biologically one sex but chooses to live as a member of the opposite sex. These people often undergo some type of surgery to physically appear as the opposite sex.

Femininity vs Masculinity

how one chooses to dress, present themselves, what they choose to take up in their spare time (sports, hobbies, etc)

masculinity is more celebrated, where as femininity is generally downgraded

Gender Dissonance

When a person's subconscious sex doesn't match their physical sex.

Before Title IX, women were not allowed to play nearly as many sports as men were.

According to a Census Bureau report, women only make 77 cents to every man's dollar.
