Jeff Carter said that, “Some of the positive aspects of owning a small business is that you can choose your own hours and days to work. Also, you do not have a boss to work under, in my case.(Carter)”
During the interview Jeff Carter stated, “The government influences all the decisions from the business part of it to the construction part of it because there are building codes, permits, and standards that you have to meet in order to keep the business running.(Carter)”
The construction business is not a career that is a desire to pursue for me because my future goal is to go into the medical field. Although, building different things, such as decks and shelves, is fun, it is not my career goal.
Jeff replied with, “Owning a small business consists of many long hours, little pay, no health benefits, no retirement, and you are often dealing with the public more than other industries.(Carter)”
Jeff Carter discussed the impact of the Affordable Health Care Act by saying, “It has affected the business because people will not be able to get tax refunds like they have in the past and as a result of this the economy has suffered. If people do not sign up for the Affordable Health Care act people do not get their tax refunds due to penalties.(Carter)”
When asked this question Jeff Carter said, “The only way it affects my business is because it makes it harder to find someone to work for you and you will have to pay your workers the higher wages so that they will be willing to work for you to compete with the fast food and retail industry.(Carter)”
