The symbol represents Gabriel. At first Jonas didn't care too much for Gabriel. After learning what release meant, he was willing to risk his life for the baby. He put his adrenaline to the works in order to save both him and the little boy.
Jonas' Journey- End
freedom sign
I chose this symbol because it was when Jonas began to feel free. He wasn't so sure about leaving his society. When he climbed over the hill he knew he was free and welcome. This new place he entered seemed happier with no people to choose your fate for you.
Jonas' Journey- Middle
lonely kid
I chose this symbol because it represents how Jonas felt in the middle of the book. He began to receive memories and almost everyone felt hesitant with him. The only friend he really had anymore was the Giver. In the beginning however he had his family and friends.
Jonas' Journey- beginning
friendship
I chose a group of friends because in the beginning Jonas and his friends liked each others company. His friends weren't reluctant with him. They did almost everything together. It explains his journey by describing that the job chosen for him changed his friendship and happiness.
The Giver
apple
I chose this symbol because it represents the first time Jonas began to realize something was up. It represents the novel because it was the first thing Jonas was given to try and understand. At the time he didn't know what to do. Getting chosen as The Receiver allowed the Giver to tell him about seeing beyond.
