Early Life: How are you Progressing?

Today using your notes in your book you are going to work through a sample assessment. You will have 18 minutes to complete ALL the questions. Timing is really important in the exam so it is something that we need to practice.

Write in full sentences and where asked for the religious views include teachings or concepts that they use to justify their view.

Remember to answer the question directly and link the ideas back to the question. Don't just list!

Common Mistakes:

Quality of life - this is the standard of living someone will have. It refers to physical and mental well being. It is a measure of fulfillment.

Sanctity of life - this is the concept that life is sacred and given by God. Only God can take life it is not our choice to make. This would mainly stand against abortion. If you believe life starts at conception then life in the womb is sacred as well. It is precious and holy.

What are you confident with?

You now need to work through your book responding to your feedback. You need to:

Common mistakes:

Jesus had followers he did not teach Protestant Christians.

Protestant Christians interpret Jesus' teachings to mean.......

The teaching to love one another is interpreted by Protestant Christians to mean that it might be more loving to allow abortion.

Treat others as you would like to be treated, can be understood to mean that if you would want an abortion in a difficult situation then you need to let other people do the same.

The teaching on the lesser of two evils means that there are two bad options but one is better than the other and will lead to less difficult consequences.

Jesus made NO comment on abortion. It wasn't even an issue when he lived.

These ask for your view. You need 3 clear reasons. If you run out of things to say explain what a Christian or Muslim might argue and whether you agree or not.

A tick means that you have understood something or done something well.

A 'Q' is a question you need to answer.

A pen drawn in your book means you need to respond to the question or do a piece of work. e.g complete it.

Do you agree questions... Give reasons for your view.

‘If a baby is not wanted by its mother, there are many people who would adopt it, it should not be killed.’

Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer showing that you have thought about more than one points of view. Refer to religious teachings in your answer. (6 marks)

With these questions you have to include both sides (arguing for and against the statement). A specific religious view which is named clearly. As well as explaining your own view. Try to give both sides.
