QB1: By Mike LupicA

Realistic Fiction

Theme/Mood

Mood: The overal mood in the book set by the author goes from anxious to tense to happy and good times for the characters. It is really helpful from the author that he gives such good depth in details throughout the book.

Theme: The theme is in the story is like a normal book trying to set examples. However the descriptive details give the meaning a whole other level to where the reader really gets it. Which is don't try to be someone you aren't you will succeed if you keep trying as yourself.

Conflicts

Throught the entire story and plots there are big and small conflicts. So are such as the classic guys fighting over a girl, or just guys straight fighting whether it be over a seat or QB job. The biggest conflict the main character Jake has to over come is getting out of his families football shadow. With his dad had been being the biggest name in the town, to his brother being a close 2nd, Jake has to spend the whole story trying to escape it.

about the book

The Overal View

Key Chararcters

  • Jake Cullen: He is the main character in the story. He is the son of Troy Cullen ( Retired Pro QB) and Libby Cullen, and brother to Wyatt Cullen (Big QB at Texas University). He is an average student, but an above average QB. But he is not too good socially.
  • Sarah Rayburn: She is the head cheerleader, and the girl every guy likes (including Jake). She is a year older than Jake and is part of some conflicts of Jakes.

The book was and overal great read. However it would be typically more for guy raders who play sports. That is why i could relate more to the story. The one thing that the book said that stayed wih me the most was," Even with Wyatt off at college, that doesnt shrink the Texas sized shadow and expectations for me"~Jake Cullen. If this book was a movie it would more than likely be a PG movie mad by disney, but i would rate it 4.5 stars.

  • Casey Lindell: He is the rival of Jake for QB. They fight with each other over the job, seats at a resturant, and even Sarah. They later come to odds with each other and realize they arent so different.
