How Did Orwell Use Frederick to Display of Perception Versus Reality?

  • The animals of Animal Farm perceived Mr. Frederick as a cruel tyrant who loved to torture and mistreat his animals. They never believed that Napoleon and the pigs would ever do business with him. In reality, the pigs had been communicating with Frederick the entire time.
  • Napoleon perceived Mr. Frederick as a way to earn extra profit for himself. After all, he caused Frederick to raise his price for the timber. In all actuality, Frederick never intended to keep his end of the bargain.
  • Frederick perceived Napoleon as a tool that would help him achieved his desires. Frederick betrayed Napoleon and speedily attacked Animal Farm, but he never thought that the animals would have the strength and resilience they displayed in the Battle of the Windmill.

Who Was Adolf Hitler?

  • Adolf Hitler was a very influential leader, but that was not necessarily a good thing. His crazy madness all started when he was just a young boy, and he and his family did not get along. This caused him to become a very cruel leader and treat his people very poorly. Adolf Hitler was very much like the leader Mr. Frederick. They both gained control legally, and when they did rise to power, they let it go to their heads. The two treated other races like they were of lesser value, and they both were able to build powerful armies while intimidating other leaders.
