The Keeling Curve

The Keeling Curve is a curve on a graph which shows how much effect humans have on the carbon cycle. David Keeling predicted by 2015 we would have over 400 million parts of carbon concentration, and he was right.

Factories

The Industrial Revolution

Burning Fuels

  • The Industrial Revolution begun 500 years ago
  • More products and tools were being made
  • Began to mass produce using factories, leading to more carbon

Shipping Boats

Humans burn fossil fuels that send carbon into the atmosphere. Humans burn 21.3 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere a year.

A single cargo ship can release as much Co2 as 50 million cars. 15 of these ships make up all the cars in the world.

That's where babies come from. Humans work in factories the more need for particular items equals more carbon.

Plants

Fact: They fight zombies.

Destroying Plants

  • Humans destroy plants
  • Less plants mean more carbon going other places, ex oceans
  • Ecosystems are put off set, causing a shift on population in animals and plants

Respiration

Everyone needs to breathe. Everyone but batman that is.

Carbon Dioxide

Methane

  • Animals and humans breathe out carbon and breathe in oxygen
  • Plants breathe out oxygen and breathe in carbon
  • Excluding water, humans are 50% made of carbon
  • Majority of methane is produced by livestock.
  • Humans also produce methane.
  • Higher population means higher demand for meat which means more livestock that produces more methane.

Death

  • Humans are largely made up of carbon
  • When they die, the carbon is released to enter the cycle

How do humans effect the carbon cycle?

Who knows? WE DO! Here's what it's about.
