About Her Trial:

  • She was the first out of 19 people to be executed for witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts.
  • One cause of this was because of her bubbly personality and her unusual way of dressing.
  • She was said to be the mistress of two taverns in town.
  • William Stacy claimed that his daughter was killed by Bridget Bishop 14 years earlier than the trials.
  • She was abused by her first husband Thomas Olliver.
  • Bridget and Thomas were convicted of fighting in public and both was sentenced to be whipped 10 stripes.
