She created U.S. Geological Survey folios on Philadelphia, Trenton, Elkton-Wilmington, Quakertown-Doylestown and Honeybrook- Phoenixville. Florence Bascom's dissertation on the re-identification of certain rocks thought to be sedimentary as actually metamorphic rocks formed from lava.

Experience

Florence Bascom Improved the USGS'S knowlodge about many mountains ranges including the Appalachian mountains. She was the best at using miroscopes and discovering new rocks. She also had a Venus crater named after her called The Bascom Crater.

Florence Bascom was born on July 14 1862, she lived in Williamstown, Massachusetts for many years. She then died on June 18 1945 age 82.

Work

In 1893 Florence Bascom was the first woman to receive a Ph.D from Johns Hopkins University. From 1896 to 1908 she was an associste editor of the magazine American Geologist. A great deal of her work involved the crystalline rocks and Geomorphology.

That Florence Bascom had a asteriod named after her called 6084 Bascom. She is a very inspiring woman.
