The Arctic Fox is an omnivore. It eats small animals and sometimes insects during the day. They also eat fish from underneath the ice. The fox breaks the ice by jumping on it to get to the fish. The Alopex lagopus sometimes eat berries. They also eat eggs of birds and the bird itself.
In the summer, the Arctic fox's fur turns into a dark bluish brown color and in the winter, the fox's fur turns into bright white. It lives in the tundra in the summer and on ice patches in the winter. The Arctic Fox lives in little dens with many entrances. The den is usually located in the hillside.
The Arctic fox reproduces during early September through early May. The arctic fox can have 25 kits but usually has 5-8.
