Fission Radiation

When people are exposed to radiation, it can increase health risks. 1 rem (radiation dosage) is safe, however anything 10 rem and above can increase your risk of cancer. Radiation will also mess up blood cells, cause nausea, hair loss, burns, fatigue, vomiting, and even cause death.

Law Of Conservation Matter

When nuclei bond to form a nucleus, that nucleus continues bonding with more nucleus. This is conserving matter because new nuclei is are being formed, without having to create entirely new ones.

Fission

Fusion

Fusion and Fission

Fusion is when a nucleus of an atom breaks apart because it is too large. When the nucleus splits, it causes energy to be released. This hap

Fusion occurs when nuclei come together to create one large nucleus. This happens at extremely high temperature, because fusion needs a lot of energy.

Atoms from Stars

Uses of Fission

Because in fission the nucleus is just splitting, you are conserving because you aren't creating entirely new nuclei.

Stars are hot enough for fusion to occur. In stars, hydrogen bonds to form helium. Once hydrogen runs out, helium fuses to make other elements. Eventually other elements fuse until iron is created. The star runs out of fuel, and the star dies. Eventually, a supernova occurs, causing a lot of energy to be present, which then can form the rest of the elements.

We use fission for x-rays, MRIs,to warms things like food, and nuclear power plants.

Radioactivity

Radioactivity is when unstable nuclei don't have enough energy to bond the nucleus. This comes from having excess protons or neutrons.
