The Things I Carry

Procrastination

One of my biggest problems in my life is putting things off

until the last minute and doing best under pressure

This is not always the case. By procrastinating, I end up rushing my work and getting results not representative of my ability. Sometimes though, everything turns out better then expected

Knowledge

Backpack

I desire to have a large vocabulary, but struggle when it comes to my spelling skills.

During the school year I carry a backpack to and

from school carrying my papers, books and a Ti-83

calculator. It can weight upwards to 10 pounds and above

I've taken two years of spanish, and don't remember 99 present of it.

Also as with the soldiers I've learned lessons about humanity throughout the years that you can't be taught in the classroom

The Soldiers carried various equipment, supplies

and tools in their backpacks to help them survive their

missions in Vietnam.

Keys

I carry a single house key on small key chain.

It's been on my person since the 6th grade when

I first was able to be home alone in the house.

They represent my first step of true independence

A Leather Wallet

Inside is usually around ten dollars cash, a credit card, and my drivers license.

I carry my wallet so I can drive, identify myself, and buy what I want and need.

Fears

The Soldiers also carried ways to identify themselves in the form of dogtags

I have a fear of rejection, and am generally

uncomfortable if I fail or am overly ridiculed.

I also have a fear of heights, which is why I wouldn't

enjoy going on roller coasters or skydiving

Regrets

I don't carry many regrets, outside of not attending a couple social events, and parties.

Tim O' Brain had a fear of going to war, but more terrified

by the embarrassment of not going.

I regret moving farther away from the school limiting my social life to a degree.

Jimmy Cross regrets focusing his attention toward Martha instead of his men. He didn't cause ted lavender's death but still felt guilty.

Worry and Stress

People tend to notice that I'm often sarcastic or overly negative. What people may not realize is that is a part of my sense of humor

I will always remember the great stories that have been passed on through the year by my friends, family and myself

I carry a decent amount of stress, though school, family life, or having to meet certain deadlines and balances my desires and requirements.

Soon I will have to plan my future after high school, as well as choose what I want to do with my life.

The soldiers had to face many stresses such as

getting shot, getting others killed, and stresses

of the day to day life in the warzone and the

life or death decisions they make

The Things We Carried itself if a compilation of stories about events in the past that have some sort of impact in O' Brains Life

In the story Mitchell Sanders has a cynical personality

using dark humor to help lighten the mood
