St. Augustine

Augustine was born in 354 to a pagan father named Patricius and a Christian mother

He was also known as Augustine, St. Augustine, St. Austin, St. Augoustinos, Blessed Augustine, or St. Augustine the Blessed

He was a Latin-speaking philosopher and theologian who lived in the Roman Africa Province

Augustine was credited for establishing anew the ancient Faith

Augustine went to Carthage to be educated in rhetoric

St Augustine died August 28, 430 (aged 75)

At a young age, he began an affair with a young woman in Carthage. She gave birth to his son Adeodatus

In the summer of 386, Augustine underwent a profound personal crisis, leading him to convert to Christianity.

He abandoned his career in rhetoric, quit his teaching position in Milan, gave up any ideas of marriage, and devoted himself entirely to serving God

He then became a Priest

He practiced Celibacy

In 391 he was ordained a priest in Hippo Regius

He became a very famous preacher

Many of his sermons have been preserved

In 395 he was made coadjutor Bishop of Hippo

He later became a full Bishop

He remained a Bishop until his death in 430

He worked tirelessly to convert the people of Hippo to the Christian faith
