Egg A has bigger spot at the eggshell because the air cell in it is bigger than in egg B. The pores allow water to go through the egg thus the spot is formed. The water and food coloring diffuses into the egg A more than it diffuses in egg B due to the size of the air cell of the egg. This happen as the substances in the mixture diffuse down the concentration gradient.
Egg B is refrigerated to indicate the fresh egg. This is because when the egg is kept in the refrigerator it can expand the lifespan of the egg about two weeks. So, fresh egg has smaller air cell compared to aged egg which is the unrefrigerated egg. As the egg ages by the time, more oxygen and gases enter the egg and the fluid inside the egg evaporate through the pores . This cause the air cell in the egg becomes larger. As for egg B which is a fresh egg, it has small air cell due to the reason that the fluid inside the egg has not evaporated yet.

Respiration is a process that all living things do to live. Thus, the developing chicks in its eggshells are also undergoing the respiration process. The purpose of the experiment is to study on how the developing chicks breathe in its eggshells. The experiment was conducted to study the relationship between the porous eggshells with the mixture of water and some other liquids such as dish washing liquid and food colouring. The inner eggshells are estimated to have different sizes of dots according to its temperature.
Each living things need oxygen for respiration process. The oxygen will enter and the carbon dioxide will be released from the body. The baby chicks in the eggshells also breathe. The presence of pores on the surface of the eggshell helps the chick to breathe. The egg has two membranes exactly under the eggshell. As the hen laid her eggs, the temperature of the egg initially is higher than surrounding thus it creates a small air pocket called the air cell. The air cell is presents in each egg. It provides the chick embryo with oxygen. So, the embryo will use the oxygen from the air cell and release the carbon dioxide through the porous shells.
This experiment is conducted to show the presence of pores around the hard shells which important for the respiration of chick embryo. Different temperature of eggs are used to show the different sizes of the air cells thus giving the different dots formed on the surface of the inner shell. The newly laid eggs is said to have none or the smallest air cell while the aged eggs have bigger air cells as the liquid inside the egg is evaporated through the pores.
3. After one hour, carefully crack the eggs and place the yolk and white egg into separate container.
1. Prepare the mixture.
i. Put one and half cup of water into the beaker.
ii. Put a quarter teaspoon of green food coloring and dishwashing liquid into the beaker containing water.
4. Observe the spots or dots at the eggshells.
2. Put egg A and egg B into the mixture and wait for one hour.
