a circus tent, which has been painted so the audience knows that the painting is located at a circus.
the middleground consists of billboards, and people. These have been painted to show the colours and business at the circus.
The lines in this particular painting are very blurry and it adds to the fauvism way of painting. The artist has painted his lines un-even, not neat and very unorganized. For example, the circus tent. The lines in real life would have been straight, but here they are blurry and different lengths.
The colours are not contrasting. They aren't complementary either, and these are colours that you see everyday. (realistic). The colours have affected the mood and atmosphere in a way that when you see the painting you get a 'normal' vibe, so it doesn't give the usual 'fauvism' feeling.
just the sky, which has been painted with white swirls to add to the realistic affect of the painting.
What the artist has done, is he has crowded the painting at the front and in the middle, so your attention can be equally divided.
If the artist would have added objects in the background, it would have been distracting for the eye and we wouldn't have been able to see every aspect.
when I first looked at the picture I noticed the dress of the very last girl/woman. The dress is nearly triangular and I guess that the artist wanted to show the way people act and dress at such events.
