Subway recently brought a new face to the company in the form of a unicorn replacing the animated monkey because people were getting bored with it and Subway found it didn't relate to all customers.

Subway - Canada

In Canada one of Subway's main aspect of advertising is working together with popular movie franchises like Walt Disney to create specialty ads targeted at children, with the expectation they will want to go to Subway.

Subway Menu

Canadian Subways are among the few franchises in the world that carry the house specialty sauce "Sub-Sauce".

Subway - India

In all of Indian Subway ads they use Indian people speaking a mix of English and Indian. They also use humor in their ads whether it be with "romance" or mimicking popular american movie characters such as the Avengers.

Subway - Menu

The menu at Indian Subways is noticeable different to suit Indian culture and beliefs. The menu has much more chicken and veggie subs to replace the beef subs popular in Canada. They also have many more types of salads than we have here in Canada.

Subway - Australia

In Australia Subway changed their slogan from "Think Fresh Eat Fresh" to "Eat Well Go/Fresh is Best" to accommodate the athletic/surfer life style that encompasses the modern Australian. They also sponsor one of the biggest surf competitions for all ages in Australia.

The majority of australian ads use one main theme song "It's a beautiful day" by canadian singer/song writer Tim McMorris. They also use australian actors so that people can relate to their ads.

On the australian menu they have wraps and thousand island dressing, which is not found on the Canadian menu.

Subway

Analysis

Introduction

As a result of globalization we have access to many of our favorite transnational corporations anywhere in the world. One of these companies is Subway. Through out the world the main idea behind Subway doesn't change but the way it is presented or sold does. To promote cultural diversity in many countries subway adapts their products or advertising to fit the collective identity of that area, but underneath the advertising changes is the idea of healthy eating at a low price. Even though Subway tries to adapt the message is still coming from an american point of view resulting in a globally know logo corresponding with american culture. As for the change in product Subway adapts to fit certain cultural or religious needs of a collective. To help promote the idea of living a healthy life style Subway sponsors many different popular sporting events in different countries. Subway promotes cultural diversity in all the countries it has franchises in either through product change or advertising adjustments, but overall it is hard to hide the fact that Subway is a truly american corporation.

In 1965 "Pete's Super Submarines" was created in Bridgeport, Connecticut by Fred Deluca and Peter Buck. Soon this tiny sandwich shop transformed into the huge multinational corporation we know today with franchises locations in over 110 countries worldwide.
