Role of parallel plots

It is a secondary plot, or a strand of the main plot that runs parallel to it and supports it.

It is also known as a minor story or as “B” or “C” story.

The author weaves two or more dramatic plots that are usually linked by a common character or a similar theme.

It may be related to the main plot as a parallel or contrast, or it may be more or less separate from it.

They reflect the variety of backgrounds to be found in real life by showing various aspects of the characters; consequently, characters are friendlier to readers.
