Smoking Affects Men Women Differently

  • carbon monoxide: car exhaust

  • tar: produced when tobacco is burned

  • cyanide: type of poison

  • benzene: crude oil, gasoline, plastics, dyes, detergents, and pesticides

  • formaldehyde- plywood, particle board, paneling, and foam insulation
  • In Women, smoking increases the risks of getting cancers of the uterus or cervix.
  • For Women who take birth control and smoke, their risk of having a stroke increases.

Causes of Smoking Deaths

  • lung cancer- largest toll in smoking related deaths
  • kidney failure
  • intestinal disease
  • heart disease caused by hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • infections
  • breathing problems such as COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • breast cancer
  • prostate cancer
  • stroke
  • In Men, smoking can cause fertillity problems and sperm count can lower.
  • Blood vessel damage caused by smoking can cause erectile dysfunction.

Smoking burns off the cilia in your nose which causes you to lose your sense of smell. By losing your sense of smell you lose part of your tasting ability.

Second-hand Smoke

  • mixture of smoke from the burning end of a cigarette and the fumes exhaled by the smoker
  • 66% of smoke from a cigarette is not inhaled by the person smoking it
  • it contains higher amounts of harmful chemicals

Conclusion

About one-half of people who smoke die from a smoking related disease.

Smoking can cause wrinkles in skin and early aging.

Think of the people around you before you smoke!!!!

Good news: After you quit smoking your risks of heart diseases, cancers and other health problems starts to decrease right way. 5 years after you quit, you risks of getting these diseases returns to the same as a non-smoker.
