Jeffrey is his real name his parents died in a crash with a trolly. So he went to live with his uncle and aunt.Then he ran away from home.
Chapter 4
Jeffrey made three appearances that first day.
His first appearances was in one of the high school fields when Brain Denehy tried to pass it to James " Hands Down" when Jeffrey jumped in the way and punted to Hands Down.
Chapter 3
The first person to stop and talk to Jeffrey is Amanda Beale.
When Maniac and Amanda walked in Mrs.Beale said "So your the book boy " Maniac stayed at the Beale's till after dinner then it was time to go home , when Mr.Beale drove him all town and went back to their house and Maniac stayed there.
Chapters 10 and 11

When Maniac got to the East end he met Mars Bar Thompson he said " Do you a bite" So Maniac took a bite. Then Mars Bar took the book and ripped a page out. Then Maniac ran to 728 Sycamore Mars caught up and said "who you running from. " " No one I just like to run."
Chapters 7,8 and 9
Later on that first day at 803 Oriole Street which is the address of Finsterwald. He's step were the only un-sat-on front steps in town. A kid named Arnold Jones was being held up by high schoolers into Finsterwald's back yard, they droped him in his back yard then Jeffrey comes in and pick up Arnold and puts him on the front steps.
Chapter 6
When Jeffrey was next spotted it was at the little League field in the park. There was this kid named John McNab, he was a picher ,Jeffrey took a swing and he was the only one who could hit it. The town was buzzing talking about the kid that hit one of McNab's fast balls they were saying " The kid is a maniac " So that was his new name (to the people). So McNab was mad that Maniac broke his record so he said "Beating him up is the same has striking him out ". So he got his pals, they called themselves "The Cobras. They chased him to Hector street which was the boundary between East and West End and Maniac went right into East End.
Jeffrey went to the Pickwell's house for dinner the Pickwell kids had no idea who he was because they thought he was one of their friends.
