The idea is then researched and written into the form of a law. For the bill to be introduced into one of the houses of state government it needs to be sponsored by one of the members of the house. THEN...

1. The bill is introduced to the House of Representatives by placing it in the Hopper

2. Speaker of the house assigns the bill to a committee to study it.

3. The committee either votes to report the bill out to the floor or table (reject) it.

4. If the bill is reported out then it is put on a calendar of bills to see when it will be discussed.

5. Then the bill goes to the House of Representatives . The bill is read then voted on.

6. If the bill passes by simple majority it goes on to the senate.

If amendments (changes) are made to the bill it must be sent back to the House of Representatives for approval again.

If the bill is approved by both houses it must be signed by the governor before it becomes a law.

Once the Governor receives the bill he can:

1. Sign it into law.

2. Do nothing, which means the bill becomes law without signature.

3. Veto the bill which means it does not become a law unless the legislature chooses to pass it by a 2/3 majority.
