In the Ghetto Continued

She would often sneak out of the concentration camps by digging a hole under the fence so that she could crawl out and get food for her and her mother . At times she would get good things like slices of bread, eggs, potatoes, and carrots. This was good food compared to what they were given to eat at the camps. Her mother told her to stop seeking out since it since she was risking her life for food. Although she kept seeking out no matter what her mother had said. She would have done anything to survive.

Charlene schiff was the youngest of of two daughters born in the town of Horochow. Her father was a philosophy professor who taught at Lvov. bother her mother and father were civic leaders in Horochow. Charlene was pretty well educated and had a private tutor at the age of four.

While she was in the Ghetto with her mother them and other woman organized a clandestine school for children who were below the age of work. It was how she had coped with the whole situation of being in a ghetto. It had helped her forget about the hunger and all the bad things that were going on in her life at the time. This school existed for a few months because the people who helped out would barter there things for things like school supplies. unfortunately this ended when there was.othing left to barter so this school came to an end.

In 1942 her, her sister, and her mother fled from the ghetto after hearing a rumor that they were going to get rid of it. Her sister went by herself and was separated from her and her mother. This was the last time she had seen of her sister.

After the Holocaust was over and the ear had come to an end Charlene was an orphan, but fortunately she remembered her grandmothers address who live in the U.S. The unfortunate part was that she had to wait three years to go to America. While she waited three years she tried to get her own student visa so she the university of Heidelberg for about a year. Although there were gaps in her education because of how long she had not been to school because of the war.

Charlene Schiff was a holocaust survivor and when her father was taken away Charlene , her sister, and her mother were forced into the ghetto in the june of 1941. This was the last she had seen of her father.

Surviving in the Forest

Charlene and her mother hid in an underbrush at the rivers edge. Sometimes they would go under water to avoid being discovered. They hid there for several days until one day Charlene woke up to find that her mother was not there. This was the last she had seen of her mother.

While she was out in the forst all alone with nobody to care for her she had to do something in order to survive. She needing something to eat and was very desperate so she ended up eating things like worms, bugs, or anything that was edible. She would at times get very ill because she had eaten things like mushrooms that were poisonous, although she would keep eating these kinds of things even if she had felt very sick and ill. She got her water source from puddles or snow.

After she had found out that her mother was gone she spent most of her time looking for her mother she hid in a forest. She had survived by herself just looking for her mother hoping to find her again. She lived with the hope of finding her mother once again.
