ROUND ISLAND DAY GECKO

Name

  • Round Island Day Gecko:Its scientific name is Phelsuma guentheri
  • Gecko means small tropical terrestrial lizards, completely harmless

Appearance

  • The Round Island Day Gecko is stocky in shape.
  • It's color is usually a dull brown or grey. There
  • is a dark stripe connecting the nostrils, eyes, and ear hole.
  • There may be dark spots on the back. Males can reach a length of about 30 cm.

LOCOMOTION

The Round Island Day Gecko is a fast walking lizard which can use this technique to run away from animals

DIET

  • The Round island Gecko eats any

insects that land on a palm tree

  • It also eats pollen and nectar from palmflowers
  • To gets its food it will walk close to their prey

or wait till it gets closer

night.Geckos hibernate in cold

weather.Day Geckos are usually

solitary.

defends itself by having its tail

fall off, so the enemy will pay attention

to the tail so the gecko can escape eventually

the tail will grow back
