Cherokee v. Georgia-Significance was that neither the state of Georgia nor President Jackson obeyed the supreme court decisions. A century and a half later Georgia admits there wrong doing therefore Cherokee became a "denominated domestic dependent nation."

Worcester v. Georgia-Significance was a famous U.S.Supreme Court case that formed part of the legal bias for aboriginal or tribal sovereignty in U.S. law.

Cherokee Nation v. Georgia (1831)-Cherokee people have lived in Georgia for hundreds of years. In 1542, Hernado de Soto conducted an expedition through the southeastern U.S and came into contact with 3 Cherokee Villages. By 1711, the English was providing guns for cherokee in exchange to help fight in the Tuscaroa War. Cherokee trade had and increase in Georgia's population After war Cherokee signed a peace treaty in 1785.(Treaty of Holston

During this time, Georgia created a strict law about applying a license to live in Cherokee. Samuel Worcester married a Cherokee women named Elizur Butler but didnt obtain a license to live in cherokee. They were arrested by the state of Georgia. The state of Georgia already differed Worcester's appointment but Governor George Gilkmer persuaded the federal government to withdraw his appoint.
