Malaria is a disease that is mainly spread by mosquitoes. There are over one million deaths that are related to malaria. Children are usually at a greater risk since they are outside and active more than adults. To this day there are no vaccines, besides the few medicines that prevent its rapid spread. Insecticides, like insect repellant, and nets can help prevent the spread of this. Anti-malaria drugs are available but they are expensive and those living in Africa usually aren't wealthy enough to afford them. About 85% of cases of malaria are in Africa and 90% of the deaths are here as well.
The major issues found in Africa mainly circle around the diseases and viruses of AIDS and Malaria, and the lack of Famine. These problems have basically become a pandemic in this continent and are almost impossible to contain from spreading. The 3 main reasons for these 3 problems are poverty, lack of clean water and food, and little or no access to anything medical.
Famine is when a region does not have enough food for a long period of time. Many people living in famine normally due from starvation. This event can occur both by humans and by nature. Droughts or lack of rain can cause crops to die, therefore being an example of nature. Civil wars over food and power can also cause everyone else to starve to death; this is an example of humans causing famine. The Horn of Africa is where famine is at its worst in the entire continent. It's still being affected to this day and over 8 million people have died.
Health Issues
in Africa
Many companies and organizations are always trying their best to help Africa recover from these major issues. Some might include ASAP and UNICEF that even try and get free or cheap medicine for viruses and diseases. They also provide shelters and many other things such as food and water to help solve things such as famine.
