Geography

Climate of Aksum

The temperature ranges from 57-70 degrees Fahrenheit. The rainy season is from July to August. The dryer season is from October to June.

Religion

Most of Aksum is located in current day Ethiopia. A small part of the empire was located across the Red Sea in the Arabian Peninsula. Aksum's geography affected their economy by linking the Indian Ocean trade routes with the mediterainian and northern African trade routes.

Culture of Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, and Arabs

Practiced pre-Islamic religion(polytheistic) before turning to Christianity

Greek was mostly spoken along the route

Art was very important to the people living in Aksum and was often expressed in many beautiful murals.

Their economy was based off of trade and merchant business

  • The aksumites were monotheistic because they believed in one god , Mahrem

  • They also believed add worshiped spirits and honored the dead and offered sacrifices
  • A former ruler, Ezana, converted the kingdom to Christianity

  • Religion was very important to the aksumites
