I choose Cleisthenes because he is the father of democracy. Democracy is the form of government in which people govern themselves. It is the government which is in place in the United States today. Also, we were learing about the original democracy in Ancient Athens and I wanted to know more about who contibuted to the government in place in the US today.
The evidence of Cleisthenes today is the democracy which is in store in the United States right now. Along with other countries around the world. The creation of the assembly which is like a modern day congress. And he took two small ideas and maximized them to their full potential: he redefined how Athenians saw themselves in context to each other, and he took the Athenian institutions from original government and equalized them.
Cleisthenes lived in Athens around 500 BCE. He was a great leader and always drew a crowd. Cleisthenes was from an aristocratic family which means he was powerful. While a leader in Athens he helped eliminate the social hierarchy and prevents another tyranny. A tyranny is a form of government in which one person takes power using force or power. Cliesthenes divided Athens into demes which are section. Each deme had a demarch which are like modern day mayors.
