-There were two types of CFA francs, the West African CFA Francs and the Central African CFA Franc.

-The units of mesurements of weight and lenght in this empire was the “Mesures Uselles”, it was introduced as a compromize between the metric number, which is the one that we use nowadays, and the traditional measuring system.

-During WW1 the french colonizers recruited 270,000 African soldiers, the majority was from Morocco (23,000).

-The capital of the french empire in africa was Dakar, there was where all of the main political issues were treated.

- There are no more French rulers in what used to be French colonies, even though the local inhabitants of those ex-colonies still speak French as mother tounge.

-The currencies that the french created after WW2 are still used in Central Africa and Western Africa.

what political problems arose with this empire

what events led to it becoming an empire?

-After WW2 french colonies faced a financial chrisis.

-Tunisia was contested between France, Britain and Italy, in the end Britain made a deal with France to leave them ruling Tunisia, the Italians were left out, so they still ruled Tunisia for a while after the other two countries sealed the pact, but in 1881 the french organised a strike to weaken the italians that were still ruling in Tunisia, and they managed, in the end to have total control over Tunisia.

-In 1900 Italy and france make a secret agreement, leaving France to rule Morocco if Italians could rule Lybia. Morocco was contested between France and Spain, in the northern regions. In the mean time Spain had made a deal with Britain, but all this political talks end when in 1906, the German emperor, William II goes to visit one of Morocco’s most influential people. USA gets called in too, and in the end all of the empires listed stand with the French and against the Germans, so the french win again, but they have to give away Cameroon to the German.
