Importance of Civic Values in Social Studies Curricula

  • leads to way for learners to be locally and globally oriented

Four Major Subgoals of Civic Values

1. to acquire knowledge from history, the social sciences, and the related areas

3. to develop appropriate democratic values, beliefs, and dispositions

4. to have opportunities for civic participation

Teaching Civic Values

Teaching civic values can be done through formal and informal instruction. The following slides will suggest some engaging activities in teaching civic value sub-goals to students.
