With Buddhism there were a number of similarities in the religions and cultural beliefs, these include the Bodhi tree and significant animals such as the elephants & deer. Almost everyone practiced the Buddhist way of meditation.
Research in meditation tends to focus on the concrete healing effects to the practice, working either with a single form or using an indeterminate mixture of practices, believing that one can reach enlightenment or life after death.
I would say Buddhism had a bigger impact on the civilization with more of its beliefs and religious views and more people practiced Buddhism.
The Indus River Valley religious beginnings were Hinduism; practicing meditation, karma, and equality. The only other type of impact was the Hindu god Shiva; who was associated with yoga (another form of meditation).
