Evolving Education
The Challenge
How do you engage readers in an online environment?

How do you integrate literature on the page with reading on the screen?

How do you get students to interact with one another in the classroom and on the web?

What tools can be used to enhance, rather than replace, learning in the reading and writing classroom?
Classroom Discussion 2.0
I was challenged with the idea of trying to find a better way to facilitate classroom discussion. After exploring Socrative, an online learning tool the displays real-time assessment results, I knew I had my answer.
Tools gained:
Prezi (obviously)
Google Apps Optimized with Scripts
Schoology Integration

T&L Cohort Reflection
As an educator, the Technology and Leadership Cohort has given me an opportunity to improve my practice in the classroom. I've streamlined my curriculum in a way I never thought possible.
Aha! Socrative
Socrative is a smart student response system that empowers teachers to engage their classrooms through a series of educational exercises and games via smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
Student Opportunity
The great thing about Socrative was its ability to help engage students that tended to shy away from class participation. Students were more confident in their ability to participate when live results were displayed.
Technology is ubiquitous

Having the ability to use it is almost synonymous with future success according to the 21st century skills standard
Students gain valuable skills involving critical thinking, curiosity, and problem solving
What I gained from the Cohort
Enhanced PLN
The ability to integrate, execute, and reflect on my technology-based practice
Tools for my classroom
Curriculum developed by me for my future classes and classes for the future
