- "Messe de Nostre Dame" or "Mass of Our Lady" is not only Machaut's most famous polyphonic composition, but it is probably the most famous from the medieval time period.
- One of the leading French composers of the Ars Nova (New Art) musical style.

Biography
- Born around 1300 and died on April 13, 1377 in Reims, France.
- He worked for a number of aristocrats and rulers, including John I, Count of Luxembourg and King of Bohemia and King Charles V of Normandy.
- Fun Fact: He survived the Black Death, which killed about 25 million people.
