Tornadoes are measured by the damage caused by the tornado. The F scale was created by Dr. Theodore Fujita and tornadoes was measured by the most intense damage that they cause. The EF Scale was implemented in the United States on February 1, 2007. It is more detailed than the original and takes in account of building materials.

Now that you better understand the natural disaster that is a tornado, does it exceed your expectation on how dangerous a tornado can be, even a small one?
The area in the world with the most tornadoes is the United States. Around 1200 tornadoes hit the United States yearly. Outside of the United States the places with the most tornadoes are Argentina and Bangladesh.
"Tri-State Tornado" killed 695 people and injured 2,027 on March 18, 1925 through Missouri, Illinois and Indiana , The "Natchez Tornado" killed 317 people and injured 109 on May 6, 1840 along the Mississippi River in Louisiana and Mississippi, The "St. Louis Tornado" killed 255 people and injured 1,000 on May 27, 1896, in Missouri and Illinois, The "Tupelo Tornado" killed 216 people and injured 700 on April 5, 1936, in the northeastern Mississippi city.
Canada gets 62 verified tornadoes per year. They can happen anywhere that the weather allows them to but the three highest numbers of tornadoes in a province is in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Toronto. Saskatchewan has the highest in their province with about 18 tornadoes, followed by Alberta with an average of 15 tornadoes then Ontario with an average of 12-13 tornadoes each year.
Tornadoes effect the environment by destroying buildings and trees. Tornadoes also kill animals, which effects the food chain and disrupts the whole environment. Tornadoes destroy our farms, which means there will be food shortages around the surrounding area. After everything is destroyed, we have to rebuild.
The impact of a tornado results in the destruction of buildings from the initial impact of the tornado and include the loss of human lives, roads, power and phone lines, crops, factories, homes, and natural resources. More losses include lost production and sales, incomes and labor time, increased commute times and transportation costs from goods having to be rerouted, decreased tourist activity, and utility disruptions.
Cold air and warm air combine: the cold air drops as the warm air rises. The warm air eventually twists into a spiral and forms the funnel cloud that we all associate with a tornado. That is how a tornado is formed. These doesn't occur every time a tornado happens.
Tornadoes are one of several big natural disasters alongside other ones like hurricanes, volcanoes and earthquakes. This presentation is going to tech you about tornadoes and the dangers of tornadoes so you can see how dangerous they are.
If a Tornado Watch is issued by the NOAA Storm Prediction Center it means that the weather conditions allow for hurricanes to happen.
A Tornado Warning on the other end means that a tornado has been seen by by spotters or indicated by radar and there is a serious threat to life and property to those in the path of the tornado. A Tornado Warning is issued by your local NOAA National Weather Service Forecast Office.
