Who discovered the MDB?
Captain Charles Sturt discovered the MDB on the 14th of January 1830. He lived from 1795 to 1869. The original name for the MDB was "Hume."

During times of drought the river from the MDB becomes strings of disconnected water holes on the course of the riverbed. The amount of the average water the MDB has once had a 10 year extended drought!

it provides things for us and covers 40% of Australia. The MDB covers 1,061,469 square kilometers.
It is about 250,000 square kilometers long. 130 million years ago a lot of Australia was under shallow sea. 100 years ago the water started murging back into the sea and formed a river the Murray. As a condition on earth changed over the long 100 million year development of the MDB.
