The Murray Darling Basin is located in many different states but mainly located in south-east of Australia.

The Murray Darling Basin begins in QLD, Tambo and ends in SA, Goolwa, Adelaide.

I think the the flora and fauna would have been very good before people started to be disturbed.

Where does it run through?

The Murray Darling Basin runs through QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and ACT. It runs through most of NSW covering an area of 75%, QLD 15%, VIC 60%, SA 7% and ACT 100%.

Who discovered the MDB?

Captain Charles Sturt discovered the MDB on the 14th of January 1830. He lived from 1795 to 1869. The original name for the MDB was "Hume."

Forty million years ago through the forces of water the valley that cradles Australian's greatest river began to take shape. The MDB who's character encompasses environmental beauty, rich heritage and history, busy townships and major regional centers, with amazing experiences and world classes.

The greenhouse effect is a natural process that warms the earths surface. Some of it is reflected back to space and the rest is absorbed and re-radiated by greenhouse gases.

During times of drought the river from the MDB becomes strings of disconnected water holes on the course of the riverbed. The amount of the average water the MDB has once had a 10 year extended drought!

The MDB is important because...

it provides things for us and covers 40% of Australia. The MDB covers 1,061,469 square kilometers.

It is about 250,000 square kilometers long. 130 million years ago a lot of Australia was under shallow sea. 100 years ago the water started murging back into the sea and formed a river the Murray. As a condition on earth changed over the long 100 million year development of the MDB.
