The Castle- This is where Shrek began to live the life of royalty when he married Fiona and they both lived in the castle together.
The Maze- Shrek is in a dilemma because he wants to live in the swamp where he came from because he does not like living in the castle. He then bases his decision on his love for Fiona.
The Crossroads- Shrek realized when he was about to give up his future with Fiona when she was going to marry Lord Farquaad but then he realizes how in love he is so he went to get her back.

The fairy tale I have chosen is "Shrek" because it displays a lot of different archetypes such as:
The Hero- Shrek has to leave his swamp in order to rescue princess Fiona which he then returns with great pride and courage from his journey.
The Devil Figure- Lord Farquaad is the character which Shrek has confrontation with because he wants to capture princess Fiona and marry her so he can become the King of land Far Far Away.

Friendly Beast- Shrek seeks help from an animal throughout his journey with a donkey named Donkey. Donkey helps Shrek throughout his whole journey rescuing the princess and living happily ever after.
Star Crossed Lovers- Shrek and Fiona are star crossed lovers because of there love pushed to end tragically because they are both ogers and have gained disapproval from society but still seem to love each other anyway.

Situational Archetypes
The Task- Shrek has to cross a broken bridge over a huge cliff and then as he gets into the castle he finds out that the dragon is there and has to rescue Fiona with the dragon trying to eat him.
The Journey- Shrek has to make sure he rescues princess Fiona so that she does not get married to Lord Farquaad.
The Quest- Shrek was set out to rescue Princess Fiona from the top of the castle and bring her down so that she can live her life as a princess.
