June 13 1967 - President Lyndon B. Johnson nominated Judge Thurgood Marshall to the US Supreme Court, After Tom C. Clark resigned. Judge Marshall served on the US Court of Appeals since 1961 and remained there until 1965. He was appointed Solicitor General of the US Department of Justice. He graduated Howard University Law School in 1933. He is Chief Counsel of the NAACP.

Baltimore, Maryland, 1961 - Thurgood Marshall a 1933 graduate of Howard University Law School and the Baltimore representative for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored people (NAAPC) was recently appointed by President John F. Kennedy to the Second Circuit US Court of Appeals.

Washington, DC 1954 - On May 17 the Supreme Court handed down a decision that changed history forever. Fifty eight years after the same court had made segregation legal in Plessy vs Ferguson, it ruled that racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional and robbed the children of equal educational opportunities.

Baltimore, Maryland - Thurgood Marshall a graduate of Howard University Law School in 1933 and the Baltimore representative for the National Association of Colored people (NAAPC) was recently appointed Chief Counsel of the (NAACP) by Charles Houston. The (NAACP) was formed in 1909 and is an organization made up of lawyers fighting in the courts for the rights of African American citizens.

The Supreme Court is an honor a few people to be a Justice to receive. It is a job for life. The only time there's a position opened is if someone dies or resigns. Many people are angered about this decision because they think a black man should not be in the Supreme Court. His appointment awaits the senates final approval president Johnson responded, "I believe it is the right thing to do, the right man, and the right place.

Houston and Marshall brought the case of Gaines vs the University of Missouri to the Supreme Court, which ruled in favor to admit him to the law school. School desegregation has begun!

Thurgood Marshall is 30 years old and lives in Baltimore Maryland with his wife Vivian Burey.

A unanimous Supreme Court decision declared segregation in education systems unconstitutional and therefore illegal. The case was presented by the NAACP Legal Defense attorneys led by Thurgood Marshall, Chief Legal Counsel.

This position is the third highest law officer in the whole country. He argues cases in front of the nation's most important court, the Supreme Court.
