Impact of the 13th, 14th & 15th amendment.

14th Amendment

  • Ratified July 28, 1868
  • This amendment guaranteed African Americans the right to citizenship.

How does the 14th amendment impact people today?

  • I think it does kind of impact us today because if you are born in another country and come to live in the United States then you have to apply to see if you are eligible to be a United States Citizen.

How did the 14th amendment impact people back then?

  • It gave African Americans citizenship.
  • It allowed them to have more freedom and do things they could not do.

15th Amendment

  • Ratified March 30, 1870
  • This amendment guaranteed African Americans the right to vote.

How does the 15th amendment impact people today?

How did the 15th amendment impact people back then?

  • I do not think this amendment impacts us today because it has been the same for years. African Americans are still allowed to vote as they did several years ago.
  • It impacted African Americans back then because it gave them the right to have a vote in stuff that they weren't allowed to be able to vote in.

13th Amendment

How does the 13th Amendment impact people today?

  • Ratified December 6, 1865.
  • This amendment abolished slavery.

Conclusion

  • My opinion is I do not think this amendment has impacted the people today besides the African Americans and that they are still allowed to do as they please and not work for whites.
  • In conclusion, all three of these amendments gave African Americans rights they once did not have.
  • These amendments did have impacts back then, but now they do not have as much impact as they once did,

How the 13th amendment impacted people back then?

Why did I choose this topic?

  • I chose this topic because I wanted to learn more about these three amendments and I found it very interesting.

Where I go my information and Explain my model.

  • Congress first opposed this amendment and said that federal government should not be given the right to interfere in the domestic affairs of the individual states.
  • Also, It did impact people who owned slaves in the South because they could no longer have slavery. They could no longer force African Americans to do work for them anymore.
  • I got my information from a book called The Amendments to the Constitution and I also got information from www.factcite.com
  • My model is a presentation about the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. In each slide I have explain each amendment and how it impacted people.
