Violet,Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are orphans."the Baudelaire orphans began their journey down the ladder." Violet is the oldest(15),Klaus is the middle child(12),and Sunny s the youngest(3).The orphans change in this book because they learn the antidote to a poison, solve a mystery, and learn any lessons. They meet a young girl along their journey. Her name is Fiona, and she is with her stepfather Captian Widdershins.
The orphans were in the Queequeg,a larger submarine, and a beach.
The events happen over about a week, although it seems longer
The children are looking for a mysterious object of which they know nothing about, and are under water,so they have to wear old diving gear, but Sunny had to sit in a diving helmet.

The theme of the story is:Sometimes the important things can be hidden in plain sight."an item the eldest Baudelaire still had in the waterproof pocket of her uniform-"In the story,Sunny gets poisoned and her siblings are looking for the antidote, but cannot find it in the kitchen. Sunny knows about cooking, so Violet asks Sunny what the equivelent of the antidote is and Sunny said that it is something that Violet has in her pocket.
