Why "Thirteen Reasons Why" is a banned book.

Reasons why book was banned...

Where it has been challenged...

Drugs

  • Offensive Language
  • Sexually Explicit
  • Suicide
  • Alcohol
  • Smoking

Thirteen Reasons Why is challenged in many places. One specific case happened in Minnesota where the 9th grade English department of a school challenged the book back in 2011. Their reasons were the use of profanity and use of sexually explict scenes. The book was able to stay on shelves and in classrooms, though, because the challenge failed.

Book Overview

Summation Clay Jensen returns home from school to locate a strange box with his name on it lying on his yard. Inside he finds tape tapes recorded by Hannah Baker puncher—his colleague and crush—who conmmited suicide two weeks before.

On tape, Hannah clarifies that there are thirteen reasons why she chose to end her life. Clay is one of them. On the off chance that he tunes in, he'll discover how he made the rundown.

Through Hannah and Clay's double accounts, presentation writer Jay Asher weaves a perplexing and grievous story of disarray and distress that will profoundly influence teen readers.
