Iberian Lynx

by: Margaret Vicheck

They are endangered because they have been hit by many cars, they are losing their habitat because of fast settlement on our part, and there food is getting sick because of the pollution we put in the atmosphere.

Behavioral Adaptations

Iberian Lynxes have adapted by becoming good swimmers and climbers, reproducing, growing thick fur to adapt to the 50 degree weather in their habitat, and using their good eyes an ears to hunt.

Territorialism

The Iberian Lynx uses territorialism by marking it's territory. This is a form of symbiosis.

The Carbon Cycle

Climate and Habitat

The Iberian Lynx lives in the forests of Spain and Portugal. There it is 50 degrees Fahrenheit and gets about 30 to 60 inches of rain annually.

This animal participates in the Carbon Cycle by breathing out Carbon that the plants then use up. Then the plants put out more oxygen in the process of photosynthesis that the Lynxes then breath back in.

Physical Description

Human Interaction

The Iberian Lynx feeds on rabbits, hares, small birds, beetles, foxes, badgers, squirrels, mice, grouse, fish, and deer. The Lynx's only predator is us. They are now critically endangered because of us.

You can of course see the Iberian lynx in captivity but it also interacts with hummans in the wild. Humans value these Lynxes coats for coats and hats. So much so that they are an endangered species.

The Iberian Lynx is/has:

  • a very spotted coat
  • long legs
  • a short tail
  • a beard around its face
  • and black ear tufts
