Yokuts Ceremonies

Conclusion

A lot of Yokuts liked to dance and most of their ceremonies were held outside. There were brush fences surrounding the dance area.

Also feathers were used to decorate

some cloths.

In all, the studying for this project was pretty fun.

We learned how skillful the Yokuts were and all the troubles they went through.

The Yokuts environment

The Yokuts traditionally lived around by San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Nevada Foothills. The Yokuts lived in the north. The Yokuts lived in the forest.

Trade

The Yokuts traded for seshell.

They traded it for money called keha. Cylinders of clam shells was worth ALOT. They traded with Mewoks for bow and arrows and sea shells.

Tools

Food

If you were in the Yokuts tribe and you were older than 6 you would have to cook dinner for your parents. The Yokuts steamed fresh mussels on beds on tules. The Yokuts made acorn bread.

They also roasted acorns.

Tools can be used in many different occasions. For example, fishing, hunting, cooking, and building.

Tule reeds were used to make many things made by people. Tule reeds were made with baskets, cradles, and mats. The Yokuts used twining and coiling methods to make baskets.

Yokuts Ways Of Hunting

Yokuts loved to hunt. Yokuts have many weapons to fight with. They used the hunting tools for many different animals. They used spears for far way combat and face to face combat. Arrows were the most deadly for far ranged combat. Most of their weapons were made out of wood. They also used daggers and boomerangs.
