Information about PARCC

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states working together to develop a modern assessment that replaces previous state standardized tests. It not only evaluates a student's progress but also provides better information for teachers and parents to identify where a student needs help, or is excelling.

PARCC members include the following states:

  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New Mexico
  • Rhode Island

Colorado Measures of Academic Success

What

tests will students take?

REMEMBER

These are new tests and teachers and students need time to get used to them. Initially scores may be lower, but we expect scores to increase over time.

What

will the new reports look like?

Scoring the tests

Scorers all hold a bachelor's degree or higher

Nearly 75% of scorers have previous teaching experience

Students are assigned an identification number

to protect privacy

An individual scorer specializes in one question or group

of questions - they do not score an entire test

All scorers are regularly assessed to ensure they are scoring

accurately and consistently
