The Monarch is made up of The Royal Family. The reason this time is called The Elizabethan Era is because Queen Elizabeth I ruled during this era. She was part of the Monarch. You could either marry into The Royal Family or be born into it.
They could be a merchant on ships, builders, and weavers to name a few.
The Merchants discovered a new place to earn a better profit...deporting goods to other countries in Europe.
Elizabethan Era Class System
The Yeomanry were like the middle class. They could profit from their jobs enough to surpass that of the Gentry.
Yeomanry, the second poorest class, were usually farmers, tradesmen, or craft workers. They profited a lot from this. Sometimes their wealth exceeded the Gentry.
Laborers are very poor. They mostly worked as shoemakers or carpenters and were often unemployed. They lived in small houses and ate little food. it would be considered a crime if a Laborer, somehow, wore the clothes of the upper class. Beggars were also part of the Laborer class. Laborers were at the bottom of the social classes. Laborers made up most of the population
Nobility had a lot of power. they were knights and owned large houses. A person was born into Nobility or granted by the king or queen.
As a Gentry, you could be a knight, squire, a gentleman, or gentlewoman. Gentry's were 3rd in the social structure. People not born into Gentry became a Gentry by acquiring large amounts of land and becoming wealthy.
