Elijah is a young boy who is seen as
"fra-gile," is afraid of snakes and good
at throwing rocks. When Mr. Leroy is
robbed of his money that was to be
used to buy his family out of slavery,
Elijah is pulled into a big adventure
away from Canada to the U.S.
When he is found, he is already dead.
Elijah finds, instead of the Preacher,
slaves. The slave woman asks him to
take her baby so it doesn't have to
suffer. He then takes it home.
